The Garden Tomb

In Israel, everyone here worships on Saturday. Today we had our first Sabbath as a Jerualem branch. I loved it! The sacrament meeting was very reverant and we were in a chapel that has huge glass windows that overlook all of Jerusalem. Such a gorgeous view. For Sunday school, my cousin Mary Teichert, taught the lesson on "Hope that the gospel of Jesus Christ brings". She just recently returned from a mission in Italy, and I look up to her a lot. There are only around 30 members in the branch (besides the Jerusalem Center students), becuase it is Israel law that we can not teach the gospel at all.
We visited the Garden Tomb today in the city. What an experience I will never forget. The archaologists aren't for sure it is the exact site that Jesus' body was laid, but there was such a special spirit inside the gardens. They pointed out the exact place inside where they would have laid him if this is the correct site.
We sang several songs while at the site.
I loved the reverence inside the gardens. We went as a group of 80 students so we learned a lot of the history behind the whole event. They invited us to come back often because it is only .4 miles away from the Jerusalem Center.
I'm so blessed to study in a land where we get to visit all the bible stories that I have learned and have grown to love. It really is like no other experience, so I'm trying to take it all in. And its only the fourth day. ;)
Have a wonderful week!
XOXO, alyson
