Omar's Olive wood shop

Omar is world famous for his olive wood carvings and nativity sets. He LOVES the mormons and has been working for 50+ years. His story is amazing and he is just such a funny guy. He was telling us a lot of stories about church leaders he has sold his sets to- some of which include: President Kimball, President Monson, Elder Holland. . etc. so many others! President Worthen, President of BYU provo, will be coming into Jerusalem next week and has requested a set from Omar. He made us laugh a lot-- President Obama requested a set from Omar but once he found out it would be for him, Omar canceled the order. Obama's secretary even left a blank check at Omar's shop and Omar ripped it up ;) hahahahha

Omar also gave all of the ladies a "wedding ring" and he gave the guys a olive wood keychain with the temple carved in it. He gave me both haha. Such a nice man. I really think i'm going to get a nativity set to bring home and remember Jerusalem. I took a picture of the top one I love most. He has one called the "Elder Holland set" that is 650.00! He kept telling us to find a rich husband and come back someday. It was a great day in the Old City!!

PS im super behind on blog posts, we had a full day of Jericho today(which was such an amzing trip!!!), we leave for Jordan on Sunday, so I will try to update after church on the Sabbeth.
