Panoramic shot of Herod's winter Palace. It was the most perfect day to visit this site!
King Herod only lived here during the "cold" season. This site is located in Wadi Qilt and this is where King Herod died. It was cool learning background history about his life. It was built in this spot becuase of the abundant soil, regular water supply, and climate sunny weather. King Herod killed so many people, so it was no suprise to his kingdom when he ordered all newborn boys be put to death. Later in Herod's life, when he knew he would die soon, he ordered important leaders at the hipidrone (horse races) to be put to death when he died, so that the city would mourn and outsiders would think they mourned of his death. It was cool to learn from that perspective and see where he lived during these winter months.
Brother Chadwich, my NES teacher, explaining the archeology of King Herod's palace.

The stones of the original wall called Opus Reticularum.

Trevor, Jase, Teagon and I after our group ran up to hill (in 2 minutes!!) to make it on the bus before 1:00!
