What an exciting time to live in Israel! Yesterday were the elections day for the kannessat!!!!!! (WAY better than St. Patrick's day, to be honest we completely forgot about st. patricks!) Israel has a HUGE voter turnout (at least 70% each year), and it is a national holdiay. It is a big deal because there are a lot of political, economically and social issues that need to be resolved. There are two main parties-- the Lakud and Labor parties.
The current Prime Minister is Benjamin Netanyahu and he was up for re-election. There are so many protestors against Netanyahu so we were able to see a lot of the tension between the two groups yesterday.
Long story short and without going into too much detal, the Lakud party joined with another party to try and beat the Labor party; However, they failed and we woke up this morning with news reporters confirming Benjamin Netanyahu's victory. I don't want to put my opinion up of whether this will be a good thing for the state of Israel, but I'm just excited to be able to say I saw him in person two weeks ago! He is a pretty popular guy. ;)
